Default I Use ad words and i need help

Hi my name is Steve i run a Scuba Diving resort and dive school on a very small caribbean island called Utila, we specialize in Whale Shark trips, teach all levels of diving up to instructors, do shark diving, and in our small exclusive resort we have vacationing divers, it is set on the beach in fantastic location......

Now the problems, i know nothing about the internet or how to promote my website i am an absolute idiot when it comes to computers i had a friend design the site and it seems to be doing fairly well [www.deepblueutila.com]about 650 hits per day not bad i dont think for a small island resort but i need higher rankings in the search results, i have a google ad word ad which brings in a few hits.

I want to know from all you guys what can i do to improve my site what should i be doing how do i improve my ranking status within the search engines and anything else you guys think i should know please tell me HHHHHEEELLLLLPPPPPP

Well, Forst off I really like the site, very unique and nice use of flash. But the flash is un spiderable to search engines. So I would provide alternate content to the search engines by using a noembed tag. Just do a search in google for <noembed> and you will find a lot of articles on it. Or provide a completely different site for non flash users including search engines. I think that the best promotion for your site will be natural search engine ranking. Becuase, the searches that you are most likely going to target are going to have very high CPC's in and adwords or overture campaign. The purely html site is going to help you in this. The main thing you need to work on in incomming links. There are tons of travel and dive related sites that would be willing to trade with you. Next thing I would work on the search engine optimization for the site, Like I said it is a really great looking site for humans, but is terrible from the view of a search engine.

Default hmmmm

I agree you should have the site done in HTML for the search engines, you would get some great positions in free search for some of the pages you could develop and have optimized.
I would then work the directories and travel sites getting as many inbound links as you can.
After that I would spend an hour a day working on Travel Forums.... do a Google search for Travel Forum, Diving Forum, Scuba Diving Fourm etc. and find a few of those... say five or six that have a decent amount of traffic (look at how many posts there are and how many are made each day... obviously the more the better their traffic)... then register and start contributing to them... answer questions about travelling in the Caribbean, about diving and all the time have your signature (when you regiester for forums even like this one) you can usually add a signature with a link to your site.
Over time the signature will be checked out by lots of potential customers.

Also do a few banner exchanges with other Caribbean resorts that do not do diving, and other diving sites that are not in the Caribbean...

That should keep you busy!
