Adsense is a great program, and the Adsense spider has found some good ads for my site. But how can I improve the writing on my site to get more click-thrus?
For example, on this page I get good ads for the content: http://www.technovelgy.com/ct/content.asp?Bnum=226 Is there any way I can improve my writing to get more click-thrus? I know I can't say "click on these links for more info about ..." Are there other alternatives? I'd really appreciate your input. Thanks! |

I wish I knew the answer to this, but one thing I've noticed is I seem to do better when the articles are not as good. THis may sound weird but I guess the better the content the less likely the visitor is goin to want to click on some thing else. I've been trying to shorten articles and spread them across pages.
That way the user is presented with related ads, but sometimes they are just a little different so they seem to do more clicks as they get further towards the end of the article. I don't know if this is really related or not, but something is different since I started doing this. |

I also try to keep the length of the articles down; I want people to click from one to the next to the next until they find something they really want to read, and then read the ads.
I've also done some fooling around with adsense colors - helpful, do you think? or not? |

I'm not sure if colors would help or not. I know there has been studies on how certain colors create certain feelings so I guess if you had content pertaining to an area were a color may cause some reaction then its possible it may help. I guess we would need a Psych Major for this though. I would think as long as you keep the focus of the article narrow so the ads are directly refeflective of the user's interests then I would think it would probably do the best to promote a click through.
Of course this would also have to depend on whether the user just found your article by browsing or if they found it while looking for the specific topic your article covers. I would think the later would generate more clicks because that would be a natural progression of the user's search. This is getting complicated, I guess that's why there are specialists in this area. Bruce |

I have generated excellent revenue using AdSense for my website.
If your website is based on a subject that has keywords that are in high demand, you stand a good change of making money from AdSense. My website is based on earning money using the Internet. This subject is only second to SEX (Adult) sites. My site has average traffic, around 214,000 on the alexia rating. I have used a AdSense ad bar on the RHS. View the site: http://www.global-income.com All the AdSense ads are highly targeted, which means that I get more clicks. I think the subject of your website and traffic to it is more improtant that how good your content is. |

A good way to increase your click-thru's from Adsense is by using similar or even the same colors as your background and making the Adsense ads look like it's apart of your site and is not just another ad.

Having your ads in red and looking like "Adverts" won't help people clicking but will scare people away from that section.
Change the background the same colour as your website and the text the same colour as the rest of the site. This way it will blend with the website and provide people with links they might want...think of it as a service to visitors not a service for you to get money! |

My site is based on Mortgages/Loans etc. I make my background color the same as my ads
You can review what I do here: www.fsh1.com Can you all kindly give me some feedback on this site and how I have it set up with Adsense? Thanks Quote:

Hi gang -
I originally started this thread for writing tips - but your Adsense color questions are good! I've spent some time thinking about it. I think I'm going to start a new thread, and I'll summarize what you folks put in. That way, we might get some more comments on this topic. CT |

The Adsense TOS prohibit telling anyone about their actual results.
But IF you get a 10% CTR to Adsense Ads you can be making upwards of 5 cents per click thru on YOUR TOTAL SITE TRAFFIC. If you are averaging $.50 per click thru from your ADSENSE traffic and you are getting a 10% CTR to Adsense then you are making 5 cents per click thru for the total traffic to your site. If the other 90% of your traffic is doing zip, you would be making some pretty good money if it costs you only 1 cent per visitor to your site. If the other 90% is makingu any money you are doing even better. The Adsense CTR percentage and average revenue per click for this percentage gives you the real facts of what your traffic is worth. If you Adsense makes you 2 cents per total click to your site and it costs you 1 cent per total click to your site, then go get 100k clicks and make $1,000 profit and never sell anything. Worst case adsense money can be used to buy more traffic.

TonysDesigns : this is a really effective way to use google ads, and the site looks nice.
Generally I would recomend that google ads should have a color scheme you creat eby your self. This way it is not identicall to all other sites and the visitor takes a look to see what it is. I have seen green, reds, but not the default from google, that looked neat and draw my attention

I'm not so sure about that! Google has a wide spread reputation of being an honest broker between the commercial aspect and the visitors interests. I believe there is some benefit rubbing off from the Google brand, standing for honesty in advertising. Therefore I'd blend the Google AdSense area into my color scheme, but would let them stand out as advertisement and have the Google header be visible. for example if my main color is a dark blue, I'd use a lighter blue for the background of the AdSense box (or the border). What do you think? Is their value in having clear separation between content and advertisement? See you around K<o> |

I went ahead and got rid of the jarring garish color ads, and went back to a more sedate approach. I blend the ads in with the site, but I change the colors of the text as a way of making a change from page to page.
I don't think that it makes that much difference to click-thru rates, but I think it looks better! Being honest is important; you should certainly differentiate between paid ads and other links on your site. However, I think it is fair to surround ads with other interesting material, to draw their attention. That said, I've recently found that the best way to improve your click-thru rate is to use their Settings page to get rid of ads from sites that you don't want. I was constantly getting what I felt were low-relevance ads from particular sites; I've blocked them and my click-thru percent has improved as a result. Giving your site visitors content that is relevant to their interests is the best approach, and I think it gives advertisers the best bang for the buck. |
