I put together my first large Adwords campaign and it was rejected. I was promoting a Clickbank product called "The Movies Download." I set it up with direct linking, had 50 ads.
Example of my two ad styles: Purchase Movies Online Search & Download Over 80 Million Movies Join Now Download Instantly Purchase Movies Online Legal & Safe, Over 80 Million Movies Join Now Download Instantly Google rejected my campaign. The message said that I did not have permission to advertise copy written materials. Or the person that I was advertising for did not have permission. Can someone explain why they did this? What should I have done differently? I am seeing a lot of affiliates promoting this "movies download" company with Adwords. Discouraged |

The answer to that is easy:
You cannot promote ANY movie download, video game download or PSP download site on Google Adwords. It is because these sites basically let you download copyrighted games, videos and similar stuff which is illegal. All 'movie download' sites are the same. They give you access to a torrent software - which you can get for free anyway. With that people can download copyrighted software and videos. Not only are these sites a scam because the software they sell is free anyway but what people do with it is illegal. Ah, and just to make this complete: You also cannot promote TV 4 PC stuff on adwords. I hope this helps |

There is no such thing as "copy written." It is copyright or copyrighted materials.
As neither you or the download sites have any copyright ownership or licensing agreement with the copyright holders they are crooks and you are facilitating the crooks. It could also be called a criminal conspiracy. And you wonder why you can't run your scam on Adwords. |

I get the feeling that this person seriously didn't think they were doing anything wrong. Unfortunately it's a given among many that it's their due to take copyrighted music, video, images and such from the internet, and that there's nothing wrong with it. Forget the fact that hundreds of thousands of dollars and hours go into the making artists and their art.
Just as we who build websites expect to be paid, either directly or indirectly through advertising, these artists should be paid for their art. We need to raise awareness...stealing is stealing, whether shoplifting from a brick and mortar store, or from the internet. Advertising sites that steal creates bad Karma, and Google knows that for sure...bad Karma and the fact that allowing it could lead to some real time law suits too! |

Anyhow - it is extremely difficult to make any money at all from promoting clickbank products on Adwords (if that is any consulation)..

Jordan,
I don't agree. It is not 'extremely difficult' to make money promoting Clickbank products on Adwords. The problem seems to be that many people think if they take any product and then try to promote it with the most obvious, generic keywords they should be making money and if they don't they say 'Adwords doesn't work'. Also, many of theme never bother reading the Adwords Terms & Conditions Adwords does work very well - it also works from promoting Clickbank products - even with direct linking. You just need to pick the right keywords. Honestly, I have some direct linking campaigns that I have not changed for one year. Some of them get back 3-4 times their advertising costs. And when I check I can hardly see any competition, because everyone seems to be advertising in the same keywords. You just need to be very selective. There are many good products on clickbank besides all these scam offers. Pick a good product and find some keywords the other affiliates are not using. Then you can make some serious money! |

Google searches for any number of types of downloads, e.g. movies, music, games, all show a substantial number of AdWords listings, so that it cannot simply be the case that "any ads for media downloading are not allowed by Adwords."

Without our seeing both the rejected ads, in the precise form as submitted, and Google's response(s), we can but speculate as to why the OP's campaign was rejected.
