Default Adwords Effectiveness?

I've been hearing more and more that adwords has become less effective. Has google improved the rampant click abuse in the system at this point in time?

They certainly have measures to reduce and prevent click fraud these days. I wouldn't say they have lost any effectiveness, they are just getting more expensive as time progresses.

For me Adwords works better than ever. You just need to do more research than you had to do 2 years ago.

Never start a campaign without first checking what your competition is doing.
There is lots of software to do that job for you.

adwords has been improving for us... could be a combination of us getting "smarter" on how to optimize, or the fact that some of our competitors are dropping out (for a variety of reasons).

adwords is fine, as long as the traffic converts.

Adwords get high click fraud than conversion.

Yes it become less effective that could be the reason Google is trying to improve their service for advertisers through Google maps and local business listing.

I've found it has improved for us, but that's mainly because we became so much smarter in how we use PPC advertising - much more systematic and with purpose than before...and it paves the way for our oganic search optimization strategy where additional profits are made.

AdWord gurus - I have a question...

If I target 'blasting' but somebody types in 'blasting supplies' - my add is not showing. (I've changed the actual keyword for privacey issues...) Is there a way to get a targeted keyword to show up in Ads if there is additional text added to the keyword?

Thank you!!

We buy only very targeted phrases. Get decent conversions. It's worth the money we spend.

Some Internet surfers become ads-blind. Their eyes tend to skip ads sections automatically. That's why adsense websites get less clicks and so as the adword.

Actually, it appears there's some good stuff for this linkable from the Google Adwords page, though not directly viewable in Google Analytics. Not well integrated, but oh well...

Nice caps, i found adwords to be tremendously lucrative! But it all depends on your niche, what your competition is doing etc. I love setting up multiable adgroups within adwords, to cover a wider spread of keywords and targeting stuff my competition is not, to keep costs lower.

Do not just rely on Adwords. Most of the traffic I get from them is from content not search. So you can advertise using many methods not just PPC. I did a co reg coop and got $400. worth of free advertising each month. Try finding websites that you can advertise on directly. That is all Google is doing. Creating a network of niche websites and splitting the money. You have to beat Google by being creative. I have spent up to $5000. That can buy a lot of advertising through other mediums. Hey that might be a great new thread.

adwords will cost you a lot of money to generate some traffic, when you have one new site, you can use it, but a few weeks, it think you can begin link building and try other marketing ways.

Adwords is as good as you make it. You have to learn how to use it right. If you just put up a few broad match terms your not going to do well. There is a science to Adwords. Saying Adwords is full of fraud and sucks is like saying a Corvette is slow when you can't figure out how to get it out of first gear.

There is very little fraud on Adwords. What you are seeing are very stupid people clicking on everything. You can't just look at your one account and make decent observations. I have managed over 40 different accounts and as much as $100,000 a month spend at a given time. You learn to see patterns. People just like to click ads.

Adwords has been effective for me since day 1. I think it works best with people working with real business sites providing services/products then crappy built affiliate sites. Also, building ads tailored to specific keywords is a big help. This is how I managed to get a really high conversion. But if your losing money like most people, just turn it off and spend money elsewhere.
