Default CTR vs Click

Hi,

I'm new to Google Adwords and I just red about something called "split testing"
From what I understand when there is a difference of 30 or more clicks, I suppose to delete
the ad with the least clicks and keep the ad with the most clicks.

Question:

If I keep the ad with the most clicks and delete the others adds in the same ad group, after a month of so
how am I suppose to keep a record of the winning ad if one of the ads (the previous winning ad) will have more clicks than the other newer ads.

I would appreciate any help
Jezzze

Default Re: CTR vs Click

Focus on the Click-thru-rate (CTR) and ROI of each ad, not on the number of clicks.

Google will automatically show the ads that are performing better, but will still alternate your ads if you have more than 1 for an ad group. There are some additional settings you could experiment with, but the default a/b (or split) testing that Google does is already works in your favor.

Check your accounts on a regular basis and try to get the highest CTR possible - make sure the visitors coming from those higher CTR's are converting though. You wouldn't want to remove a lower CTR ad that is converting more sales.

You can view all your ads, including previously deleted ones:
  1. Under the "Ad Variations" tab, click on the 'Change range' link and select your date range, ('All Time' suggested).
  2. Check the box, 'include deleted items'.
You would then be able to compare all your ads by # of Clicks, CTR, Con. Rate, etc.

Good luck,

~Danielle

Answerd it yourself. Dont delete the ads please, they are for the A/B testing. The best performing Ad would still be at the top and the lower at the bottom. You can modify the other one to see if it starts performing better than the first one. In both the cases you are the winner!

Thank you
