Any good open source software for flash development out there?

If it's an intellectual thing, and you're not opposed to jump through quite a few hoops getting a successful install, then Synfig studio. You'll need to install GTK and GTKmm, Synfig and Synfig Studio

Otherwise, if you're not completely opposed to paying something for software and never forked a distro check out Koolmoves.
