Flash MX has a verification code that it can write for you. It creates three html files. The first is the verifier; the second is a notice page for those that don't have the latest version for them to download, and then the player html file. I personally have never been able to get the verifier to work. It just runs and runs and runs...

The problem with an auto load feature is that all newer browsers have warning scripts. You know, that little pop-up alert window saying that the web page is trying to download an application or font style to your computer? It then asks you to ok it. Most people will leave your site for someone else’s when that happens; especially with the increasing threat of viruses and Trojans.

My advice to you would be to put a small Flash animation on your home page. Inform the viewer that your site uses Flash and if they do not see the animation below/above, to "click here" to download the latest Flash plug-in.

Now me, I normally program for player v5. This eliminates the need for the newer plug-ins. But I agree that there are the newer functions that require it. If you are not using a lot of actionscript, then I would say just save it to run on player v5.

Hope this helps, even though it is not the answer you are looking for.
