I am guessing your problem is that you are re-sizing the image inside Flash. Always try to avoid this and do any image manipulation before import.
Also check your publish settings - which you can override and adjust on a per asset basis. |

Another hint: Save your images as png instead of jpeg before importing. Your compiled swf will be noticably smaller in file size and you will have the benefit of transparency in your images.
