please rate the flash made for our product
We are currently working with a company to create a Flash for our product, Code Co-op. This flash will be used on our site and as a promotional piece on other appropriate dev sites.
We aren't happy with the flash because it seems typical. However, before I give feedback to the firm, I want to know what other Flash professionals think of this.
you can view the flash at http://www.relisoft.com/co_op/flash/mixTI.swf
Thanks for your time and feedback. You can email me your comments (dehrlich@relisoft.com) or post them here.

Debbie
My one overriding comment would be to put it in an html container and fix the maximum screen size (to cater for 800x600 resolution).
I use 1600x1200 and when any Flash animation goes that big the animation is far less smooth than you'd expect.
When I resized my browser it looked much better in terms of animation, which was much smoother.
Other than that I liked the intro and I reckon it will work as long as you allow a skip function.

Please keep in mind that this critique is meant to be constructive.
From a Flash viewpoint. The presentation is very typical.
I didn't have any idea of what your product or service is and after viewing it, I still don't.
This may just be that I am not familar to your field.
The intro seems to be all fluff and cries out for a "Skip Intro" button.
Best of Luck.

I want all constructive criticism so I THANK you for yours. It does seem like fluff without conveying much at all. I'm open to hearing more. Better yet, can anyone point me to a product flash that you think is REALLY cool?
thanks a million for your opinions.

The ITX Multi Gas Monitor Demo. Why it's cool: ITX thought enough about my time to make the subject the ITX Multi Gas Monitor rather than Flash.

Please show us exactly what you asked for. Then I will tell you what I think.
..but without knowing exactly what you asked for, it's a bit hard to give an opinion because everyone has different taste.
Personally, I can see that a lot of effort has gone into this work, and it's not bad.
..but then again, it all depends what you asked for and how much you're paying.

None the wiser...
If I were a potential customer, I would like to see the benefits before deciding to purchase. All I see from your site's Flash presentation (apart from fly-in and out graphics) are random statements such as "affordable", "reliable" etc. I would like to see what your product(s) could offer me... how will they make an impact on me or my company. To be honest I couldn't see what you were selling.
If you can improve on those initial statements, the whole presentation will then make more sense. Also I would definitely agree with a previous post on the need for a 'Skip intro' button

Our goal with this flash is to create interest and drive a download for our product. Our product is Code Co-op, a peer-to-peer version control system(VCS).
why buy Code Co-op?
- It's an affordable VCS enabling collaboration throught email, LAN or VPN - no server required
- you can develop anywhere, anytime
- affordable (most products like ours cost thousands, ours costs hundreds)
- easy to set-up and use
The idea behind this flash was to show how two developers can work together and stay in synch by using Code Co-op and email.
We definitely have some rethinking to do. The flash as it is now is too busy and distracting.

My $0.02
I have used Code Co-op in a development environment. It is a very nice and elegant solution to source code control for a budget price - and it's very simple to use.
As for the Flash intro, I think it was about 30 seconds long. That is at least 20 seconds too long. Nobody in the world has that kind of patience for anything other than entertainment animations.
Always have a skip intro button/link.
The message of the animation was non-existent. All I got from it was a guy on a computer typing something, and then the Seattle spaceneedle, some flying colours, quickly moving text, the same guy typing the same thing on a computer, and then something called Code Co-op. If you want to bestow the virtues of your product, then do it. Quickly and simply.
Sadly, this animation seems nearly completely superflouous and a giant waste of money. But all is not lost... have your designer start over.
Good luck.
