That is totally true. Google doesn't index the content inside of a flash file. Then again, I don't see anything inside of a flash file most of the time, either. Flash really slows down my system, so I disable it.
Now, if you really want to optimize a flash site, you've got a few options.
First, use flash sparingly for headers / banners.
Second option, do a detection routine in JavaScript for flash and then show the flash content.
Third option, create an HTML version of the pages and create some links to them.
Fourth option, forget it and just start getting more links than Google can possibly ignore. If you get a few hundred thousand, the flash should rank for the anchor text.
The best answer, IMO, would be either 1 or 2, preferably 1.
