Default Edit Flash Files

Hi,

one of my clients has asked that I make a change to a part of his flash site, the previous web designers went bust a couple of years ago so the only files I have access to are those available through ftp.

I know nothing about flash, so I need some help.

I have downloaded the 30 day free trial of macromedia flash 8 to do the edits.

I have downloaded all the .swf, .jpg, .gif files via ftp.

I have opened up the .swf file - but its blank.

What file type do I need to modify ?

You'll need to get a seperate piece of software that can convert the .swf file to a .fla file.

.swf stands for Shockwave file, and is essentially the 'exported' version of the flash project. By themselves, .swf files can not be edited, but only viewed, whereas an .fla file can be modified.
