Converting from DVD to Flash...

I'm just entering the wonderful world of FlashMX & I've heard it can convert movies stored on dvd into flash based movies...

Rather than just jump into it can anyone give me a shove in the right direction?

I am not so sure if this is possible without ripping the video off the DVD first with some sort of media encoder. I will check around though, if I find something I'll be sure to let you know here.
