Default optimising flash

i've been asked to optimise a site entirely built in flash. i beleive the SEs are getting better at parsing the content of flash files but i've never seen a flash site rank well for a competitive term (feel free to prove me worng :)

is there any way of optimising a flash site beyond building a html version?

Wow, you weren't kidding.
First appearance, site looks good.
I see your problems with the flash.
Why dont you build an .asp or straight html version and run it side by side? That is what I would do...
Honestly, the flash is pretty, but there is nothing too fancy that you cant duplicate with ASP.

I am asking why dont you build a site in ASP or HTML.
Is this an option for you? This will be the only way to get good, natural links into the search engines.

Whoah, Tim, wasn't that bad...

Is this site really Flash? I see lots of other stuff in that code, but not Flash. And there appears to be plenty to work with for optimization: title tags, metas and text on every page. It has multiple pages which could each contain text and metas and title tags.

Yea Tim. I hear you. I think that was the first time I'd seen the text pushed to that size. Now I know why they have that font size option.... :-)

apologies for not answering you the first time marc.

xenu shows one file only (index.htm) and with all the moving stuff i just assumed flash, but looking at the source code now i don't see a swf file, just a few javascript files, so maybe i'm wrong.

(y tienes razon, barcelona es una pasada, por eso estoy yo!)

:)

No none of that looks like Flash to me. Maybe some fancy javascript but I don't see any Flash in this site.

Default Wanted to ask same question!

Have just built my first few sites fully in flash and wanted to ask the same question about marketing through google etc.

If you could look at the following examples and advise I'd really appreciate it:

www.mediaeden.co.uk
www.themusicboxproject.com
www.richarddenny.co.uk

I appreciate that building a html site to go alongside the flash would help the search engines... but after spending so long building the sites it seems a shame to have people directed to the HTML stuff from google et all (and probably not bothering to look at all my hard work in flash!).

I've been told that the search engines have got wise to pages full of text and tags redirecting the user to other parts of the site so I'm guessing this isn't an option.

If anyone could advise it would be a massive help!

Thanks

I think flash is good if you use it wisely probably as and when you feel that word is difficult to express. Most of the flash I see are losing its uniqueness and inner depth even not considerable to artist's vision and viewers perception.
