The Flash Player (FP) installs into a Windows directory. The actual location varies slightly depending on which OS you're using.
But you don't need to know any of that under normal circumstances. Only techies need to know, and from what you've said I think you are one of us normal people.
When anyone says 'a friend told me to <insert action here>' my neck hairs stand on end.
I'm trying to clarify things here, so how can you not know where the FP is installed if you deleted FP6 (as you said in your first post)?
That has me worried - because if you didn't know what you were doing there's no telling what you've deleted. And that in turn could easily explain why things are messed up now.
For the record, you don't 'get the FP to work'. It just does.
If you want to delete it there are uninstallers to do it for you. The only times I know of when you'd want to do that are:
a) You progressed from hating Microsoft to hating Macromedia as well, and want all Macromedia software off your PC ;)
b) You have a problem or want to install older players to test something.
Unless you are absolutely certain you know what you are doing, you wouldn't normally delete it manually. You'd have to mess with the registry to clear out all references to it.
Also for the record, if you are using FMX as you implied (and not FMX2004) you don't need the FP7 to get SWFs to run. They will run with FP6, so your friend misled you there.
Finally, and also for the record, the latest version of a player installs over the older version. No need to remove the old version first.
