Default Flash slideshow optimization help

Hi Everyone,

I've created a image slideshow in flash (simple fade in and fade out transitions) for a customer but the problem resides in it's file size and download speed. It takes too long with their dail-up connection. Does anyone know of any easy optimizations I can do within Flash to speed up the file without deceasing image quality too much?

Jennifer,
I have not used Flash - I use Swish, however,
I think the same priciples apply to "control"
the size of the "movie" file.

Two things affect the movie size... the size of your
images AND their respective quality/compression.

When you create an image slide show, the movie size
should not be greater than the viewer's normal
screen setting (800x600, 1024x768, etc). Thus the
individual images should not be larger either.

In Swish, I can "compress" images further and still
maintain a good image... I'm not sure if Flash has
the same feature. But, that should be done - recognizing
that the viewer's computer resolution is not as
good as what you would need for a good print.

In general, your should resize or crop all your
images (with your image/photo software) to the
appropriate size to fit your movie BEFORE you add
the images to the movie.
