Can I add a hit counter on Flash site

My name is Doobied_newby and I am a Flash novice. Gee, this is just like AA.
Seriously, I am about two weeks new at this and have just about completed what I intended to do with Flash in regards to my site (but are we ever truly done).
I would like to add a Javascript that collects the information needed to track statistics. I find this very valuable on my HTML pages and would like to extend it into my new Flash site.
Can I do this?
Remember, I'm bordering on stupid, so keep it simple. You know, tab "a" into slot "a".

The closest I could find for you was a hit counter using PHP.
