Moving Host for Ecommerce Site

We will be moving hosts soon and would welcome advice on the best way of doing this to minimise down time and at what stage to turn off and turn on ordering in the on line shop.

Can anyone post a link with a checklist or suggest our best strategies?

Make sure that your new host gives you a temporary domain. Freeze your live site, then transfer files/DB over to the new site and configure for the temporary domain. Transfer the domain, then reconfigure for the new URL ASAP.
