Could someone recommend inexpensive credit card processing service which it is possible to use as an API in the perl script.

Usually when I see questions like this posed (inexpensive, low cost, cheap, etc.), I equate this to someone attempting a trial balloon for their first ecommerce venture. Most likely the transactions per month will be very low (less than 10 per month) or the volume is a complete unknown. If this somewhat matches your scenario, I would recommend (gag, ick, puke) Paypal. It's free to get started and no monthly fees so you can get your feet wet. If the site takes off and you find you need better transaction rates or more controll over the process, then there will be many options but most require monthly fees.

Paypal does cc processing, I use them for that, but I don't find it to be that efficient. My store software sucks, I hate osCommerce, it keeps messing up my cc payments. I am going to switch soon. Also, I am about to check out Google checkout, anyone know anything about it?

As for credit card processing company, do you have a merchant account already probably? And what country are you from?

As for Google Checkout - it is very popular also nowadays. It could be good addition to any payment methods you have in the store.

Try Loud Commerce. It's not inexpensive but is the best option.
