Onsite Product Review
Just wanted to get some opinions on the pros and cons of offering visitors to an ecommerce website the ability to make product reviews.
Thanx!

Re: Onsite Product Review
It's a great way to help provide updated content that's likely to be seen as highly relevant. I'd just be sure I had the ability to edit comments that are either inappropriate or off topic.
To keep things from getting out of hand and wrecking the page layouts, you might also want to only display the latest three or four reviews. Relevant, current and still nice looking... sounds like a good idea to me.

Thanx Dubbya!
Yes, all reviews would be moderated.
I need to check and see whether or not they're actually displayed or linked to but their number is easily editable.

Thanx Jaan!
I need to "play" with the module a bit. Both you and Dubbya echo my sentiments. The drawback may be the lack of reviews initially but I suppose there is a way around that using the testimonials.

Re: Onsite Product Review
I've seen tons of sites that welcome product reviews but don't have any. CNET, ZDnet and plenty of other sites as well.
It's usually just a matter of time before someone submits a review though and, even though all products may not have a review only serves to establish authenticity in that they are in fact user generated.
Out of the gate, I wouldn't worry about it. Good products and great service will undoubtedly encourage submissions.

Re: Onsite Product Review
Okay...
Here's the initial shot at what a review would look like on the page...
Gold St. Joseph Medal
Set to display 2 reviews per product page. If I'm not mistaken, the newest 2.
Bottom center of the pages without reviews is a link titled...
"Be the first to review this product!"
Thoughts?

Re: Onsite Product Review
Yep, that'll work but it seems a little crowded in the lower region of the page.
You might want to format the "View All Reviews" page so that it matches the rest of the site.

Yep, still need to format the additional pages. Both the "more" and the "View All Reviews" pages. Haven't got there yet.
By crowded, too close to the image and info above or the spacing within the review itself?
