Default Can anyone recommend a secure server?

Hi all

I am in the process of quoting for a promotion company thats specialises in organising/promoting niche leisure events and sells the tickets online.

The tickets for these events are likely to cost about £300-£350 per ticket totalling approx £285k per event.

For this reason, I don't think average PayPal is going to be appropriate. Please could anyone recommend me either a good separate secure server for accepting online payments, or let me know if WorldPay's Corporate solution is any good and what their rates are.

Regardless, any help will as always be gratefully received.

TIA,

I use worldpay and find it to be very good. I also use the hosting services of Linux Technical Support Services from ForLinux as they have the best support I have ever had - although they are not cheap. If you do speak to Forlinux speak to Steve Nice and tell him Simon from DVD-and-Media.com gave you the contact.

As for rates on worldpay you should look to negotiate it to around 1.5% on credit cards and 15 - 30p for switch.

Hi Deb

Worldpay will not be the most competitive at that turn-over.

Consider proxy anonymous proxys site server at Protx.com (online processor) - just as simple to implement as Worldpay (easy to integrate callback) and Pre-Authorisation is available with either (very useful to cancel any fraudulent transactions without cost ).
The promotion company will need their own Internet Merchant account from their bank (or any bank - shop around the rates vary a great deal); note an Internet Merchant account is not the same as their off-line merchant account.

Before were considering storing the credit/debit card details on your own secure server you must take into account new legislation and data protection laws which you would then need to comply with. This is as is should be: a legal nightmare (after all who wants their card details on an insecure server). Better to leave it to those that specialise in this area such as Protx, Worldpay, or Secpay, etc. Which means you keep your hands clean of the legal side of development.

You would still need to consider data protection if you are storing customer details and should not export that data outside of the EU. Which is just one reason why you should host such a site in the UK (or in its native country).

I hope your quote gets accepted and you get the work - if so I wish you every success with it

Dave.

seiretto the link you have was a typo pointing to a monetising site. I've changed it - I assume you mean protx?

I have just found that Worldpay want to charge per transaction as well (which if someone books a table at £3k - is a lot of commission to take home).

Thanx for both ya advice.

Thats not the end to Worldpay charges - they also add on to every transaction fraud screening (a total waste of space - rely on that to screen your payments and you will out of business in weeks), and they add a Funds Transmission Cost when they pay you!

That said... they are good and reliable. You get what you pay for....

I also think ChronoPay's (ChronoPay - Internet Payment Service Provider: accept online payments with credit cards and debit cards) a good company and Paylane (Credit Card Processing and Online Payments for E-Commerce - by PayLane) are also good companies that I've worked with and found to be reputible.

Jesus. Thanks for that kgun. Phew! I had a lucky excape. WorldPay are a bunch of money-grabbing amphibians and they don't even protect their clientele??

Thanks for all your replies. My client (I hope?) likes the look of Protx. Kudos as always are given.
