Red face my shopping cart

I have a jewelry customer who has decided to add a shopping cart. I have installed Zencart. That seemed to install nicely. And I use fatcow.com which has mysql. Next I started a mysql database and table that is online at fatcow.com Now what. I don't know what to do next. I don't see how to add products pictures and prices to the online mysql. Do I need to export the database into a file in txt format and add the products etc, then import the file back?

Then, in Zencart how do I integrate my pages with the shopping cart.

Just when I think I am beginning to understand, I get confused again.

What does that mean?

If you have successfully installed zencart, then it should have populated a mysql database for you. And there is an admin area where you log into where you can configure your categories , products and upload your pics.

Smile Re: my shopping cart

Thanks, That was a 'duh'... I missed that part in the set up. I have found the page and have successfully added products. Thanks again. I was making this a lot harder than it needed to be.

Now, if any one has any great ideas on changing the zencart template easily and getting rid of all the misc junk boxes off the sides, that would such a time saver.

Your best bet is the Zen Cart forums if stuck...

You remove the sections by using going to Tools > Layout Box Controller to remove the sideboxes

Yeah, the "what to do next" seems to always be poorly documented, in most all products like this. Thanks for the tips....

Most 123 installation instructions are written to be quick way to install the program successfully and some of them assume you know all the basics.

They all know, but don't tell you, that in case you have an issue, visit our forums.

When I first started using Zen cart, I struggled as well and found many answers in the forum, but it was time consuming to search through for every little thing. Then I got the book "e-Start Your Web Store with Zen Cart" by Goh Koon Hoek.

Sure wish I'd had this the first time I installed and set up zen!

Then, of course there are the fantastic mods to add, which there is not much help for, but once you see them in action, you've just GOT to use them.

Good luck!

I see that book is anywhere from 45.00 to 70.00. Anyone got one for sale that they are done with?
