Default anyone making sales from China yet?

With over 1.3 billion inhabitants, about one-fifth of the world's population, China is the world’s most populous nation and is experiencing exponential growth in practically all areas – including internet usage.

Some 137m people, about 10% of the overall population, are already online, and this figure is expected to grow rapidly in the next few years – making it arguably the world’s most attractive market in the long term.

Anyone making money from there yet?

I am !!!!!!

But I offer a unique service few others can offer.

Also if you are speaking of retail sales, I do not see others selling items the Chinese manufacturer for export... so at best people would do well who are selling items not available in China, but popular elsewhere, such as classic American muscle cars, NFL throwback jerseys, etc

Cellphones, Televisions, Jewelry, Designer Clothes, etc etc will not fare well in the foreign markets where these items are manufactured.

My 1.5 cents adjusted for inflation.

Yes, I have been doing quite well in that market as well, and right now you can really get in on the "ground floor" and establish yourself.

Depending on what you sell, I wouldn't trust them. They are responsible for more cyberterrorism that any other nation. The US DoD reports an attack on US Gov't and military computers from China every few seconds. Every sale I have ever had from China, has been a criminal scammer (fraudulent or stolen credit card, forged money order or cashier's check, etc). Therefore I will never touch that country (or Asia for that matter) ever again. Other than the USA, I will only take sales from Canada, the UK, Australia and a few countries in Europe.

Nope.

I've done business in Australia, Malaysia, and Pakistan, but not China.

I received a knock-off order from Hong Kong, not going to fill it (I'm sure they'll get the item though). No interest in shipping products so they can be countersampled.

I think best recommended route would be to make partnering with a local Chinese company especially if you're not aware about the custom, culture and business practices in China.

Yeah, and you left out: supplies its thousands of tainted, toxic, hazardous products to other countries.

Is anyone else getting this crap? PM's from "stella36912":

"halo~i come from Hong Kong~
Would you like to make friends with me
"

How do you block certain members from PM'ing you? I also would suggest the mods ban that member for spamming and harassment.

Yeah yeah, I know......."Me 12 year old girlie and me like you many much. You meet?" And it's Chris Hansen from Dateline NBC, (or a hairy 400 lb. woman, or Sasquatch 500 lb. g*ay dude from prison named big Bubba). ROTFLMAO.

My wife wanted to buy some plates with a painted Christmas motiff and I told her that she was out of her mind with the lead issue. Went to the A&P and was going to buy some shrimp and then saw that it was a product of China. If its connected to my mouth, I'm not touching it from China....

I know what you mean, but it's not just edibles, it's everything. They declared (cyber)war on the USA years ago, when the www was first up and that's going on thousands of times a day. Then they targeted our pets trying to kill them, now it's children and adults with not only foods being recalled but other products that are being recalled because of lead and other toxic substances. Most recently it was Halloween costumes, candy, and children's lunch boxes because of lead and being flammable. You KNOW our computer mice and keyboards we are holding right now are from China, and, also contain lead, so we're slowly being killed that way too. That's next to be recalled.

I also blame the USA for being STUPID enough to buy & import anything from them. If wouldn't be for the USA China wouldn't exist because the USA imports the bulk of their crappy goods. And they thank us by attacking us. They are not any ally of the USA no matter how you look at it. That's why I never risk doing any business with them. It's probably also happening to other countries that import their goods.

Oh well, that's bound to stir up some political BS now, I wasn't trying to, it's all true.

The blame lies with the Global Corporations who want to squeeze every dime of short term profit out of anything made and don't care about "consumers" (I highly object to being objectified that way, btw. I'm a person, a human, not a "consumer".)

I've got a challenge for you. Try going through a whole day without touching anything made in China or anything made of Oil.

What you'll find is that you can't. It's impossible.

How's that for sustainability long-term? We are so screwed . . .

And I think we've wandered a bit off-topic . . .

So true, and OMG don't get me started on oil.

A little, but it still has something to do with China. Let's start another thread, LOL.

Because of the spam and constant server attacks from servers in Korea and China, we've actually blocked all of the IP's originating from both places at the firewall on 4 of 6 servers.

Server attacks dropped 80% the first week. Server loads dropped appreciably.

Good resource for those with similar issues:

Okean - Spam Intro

We reload iptables with an updated list from OKEAN every day.

I hope the necessity of doing this changes, but in 6 years it has got nothing but worse.

Until the vast majority of IIS servers over there start running legal (hence, patchable) software, the problem will never get any better. The machines are like swiss cheese.
