A study from Akamai and JupiterResearch found that visitors to websites will give the site four seconds to load. Longer than that, and they're bailing out for the next site in the SERPs.

If you can make your site faster today, the transaction you save may be your own.

David,

saw some other research today that says you then have 11 seconds to convince the visitor you've got something worth buying.

I agree, speed is the most important thing these days. Don't let them have to wait on the site, and once it's up, get them interested.
