Default Tracking emails from directories to website

I advertise on several directories which list my website.

If a potential client goes from that directory to my website and then completes a contact form on my website, is there a software that I can use that will track that particular email back to the directory?

I am new to this and it seems like it should be do-able, but I can't find anything on this.

Thanks for any help!

You can do it with most analytics software.

Basically you need to make sure the software you use has conversion tracking. Place the conversion tracking code on your thankyou page. You can then assign different directories to campaigns in your tracking software. When a user clicks from one of the directories to your website, everything is tracked from that visitor.

Something like hitslink would work well, as would most higher-end tracking software like clicktracks, google analytics, webside, omniture, etc.

Google analytics is free, but there is a wait to sign-up.

Thank you!

Can you give me the actual websites for those?

I googled them and it looks like some other companies might be trying to capitalize on their popularity.

Thanks again.

Sure thing.

Free:
Google analytics - http://www.google.com/analytics/

Med Price:
Hitslink - http://hitslink.com/

Med - Very High Price:
Omniture - http://www.omniture.com/
Clicktracks - http://www.clicktracks.com/
Websidestory - http://www.websidestory.com/

There are a ton of others as well. Do a search for website analytics, and find a company that offers conversion tracking.
