Default Failover Scenario

Hello Guys,

I hope I'm in the right place to post. Anyway, I have two webservers. One is the production and one is a hot standby. I am looking for a simple solution for failover and was looking at a dns solution.

Has anyone used these services? How are they? Do they actually work like they say? They tell me that the site is checked from 4 locations. If it is unresponsive, they automatically switch the dns from the production server to the hot standby and then back when the production is back up. I guess I want to know if it really works like that and is that simple.

I would also like any opinions on a cost for this. I have be quoted from 15 - 1000 per month. All the questions I ask seem to get the same answer so I am confused by the differences. There must be a difference, right?

Thanks for any responses and opinions. They would be much appreciated.
