Default Newbie needs oscommerce direction

I see several companies selling their expertise here, but I just need a general nudge toward how to do it myself.

I have a site set up with OScommerce. Now I'm feeling stupid because I don't understand how to set it up so the owner can accept credit card orders.

She has a physical store where she already has the ability to accept credit cards; is that merchant account usable on her web site?

She also has used paypal for other things she buys and sells, unrelated to her website. Should I just set her site up so all payments go through paypal, or is this not a good option?

Thank you anyone for ideas. This is my first ecommerce attempt and I don't want to mess it up :-)

Default PayPal is a good option

I think PayPal is a good payment option, but the site should be set up to receive credit card payments as well.

So many sites lose possible customers because their payment options are limited.

Check out VeriSign.

Hope this helps.

Oscommerce is compatable with Authorizenet the largest providers of electronic gateway's. Authorizenet is First Data compatable. The merchant account the client is using may not be First Data compatable. First Data an 11 billion dollar company is the largest merchant account provider.

Card present and card NOT present business are very different kinds of businesses. Both accounts can use the same merchant processor, but they cannot use the same merchant account.

We have a lot of expereince in this area and drop me a line if you need further assistance.

a good way to find help in this area or any programming area for that matter is a website called www.scriptlance.com

you can hire a freelancer for a fairly cheap price (i.e. $5 to $20) to do a small programming job such as this one.

Hope this helps.
