Default Browser Based Store Builders

Hello everyone :-)

I have been searching for the following for approximately 2 yrs now.... I have found a few, but none who could match exactly what I need.

I am looking for a browser based private labeled/branded ecommerce site builder that I may use my own template designs with. I can elobrate if necessary.

I have tried easystorecreator but their profit margin they are keeping is definaly going to put us in the red and we couldnt even go there, I see no profit in that area. I tried sitesgalore but they say that if we want our own templates used they will be used by ALL users and we will be charged $175 each for every template we use.

I have been trying to start an online craft mall for about 2 yrs trying to help out stay at home moms and disabled persons, etc. and of course an income to help me be able to stay at home with my 7 yr old. I have designed many sites in frontpage (it is my passion) they are all ready to go... I just cant seem to get what I need from the browser based services. Perhaps there is a software out there.... I have saw many "Cookie-Cutter" type sites with the same templates -- I just cannot locate their sources. I started learning and studing trying to make a program to do as I need, but with a full time plus job, a husband, and a child, I simply dont have any time.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance :-)

Dunno if this helps, but can you use osCommerce or a host that offers it?

www.oscommerce.com

Personally, I'm a DIY guy when it comes to that sort of thing, but then again, I've been programming in ASP for 5.5 years and you probably don't wanna go down that road yourself (it turns you into a geek. :)

Thank you for the reply. I had forgotten to mention that I have dabbled with Oscommerce - great option, but didnt get far enough into it to figure out what all I really needed to learn, actually I am a "Computer Geek" of the Software User Support Type in my profession. Which in turn got me very interested interested in Visual Basic Coding at work, but didnt have much time to go further after completing a project they needed for one of our departments. But it was SOOO fun!

So with OsCommerce, should I go with learning the PHP and SQL . Ive read through the forums enough to make basic changes to the shop sites, although I want to TOTALLY go all out and change it drastically to make it unique to me. Any ideas on books, etc.

After sleeping on this one and waking up to see this reply, I am sure it is my answer. I will get started, and if you could lead me to any great idea spots or further info such as PHP books etc, I would love it and I will try and leave you alone :-) Also please note, that I LOVE to share info and help others as I move through stuff, thats my job and my life :-)

THANK YOU - you answered my question and sent me in my direction!! :-)

Well...to be perfectly honest with you, I've given you about as much advice as I can give.

I'm an ASP guy myself, not a PHP guy. So I don't really know much about osCommerce other than "it exists and it's used a lot."

What you may want to do is start a new thread asking for osCommerce help as you need it (or PHP for that matter.)

I guess alot depends on your host and whether they support ASP. Many do not and unless you want to host your site yourself, it may be better to stick with CGI or PHP. I use Cube cart hosted by Bluehost. I have dabbled with OScommerce and I avoid it like the plague because of their slow and oftimes unresponsive support.

Cube Cart is php and template based and the support is some of the best I've seen.(should I also reveal that I am a Moderator and sometimes developer) The license is free and development is ongoing.
