Default Which AV solutions to use on a dedicated web server?

Hi,

We're about to move our hosted sites to a dedicated server and have been informed that it doesnt come with an antivirus solution so we'll have to supply this ourselves.

Im just looking for some ideas on what I should be installing - I had a quick look about for a Symantec Web Server Edition but came up empty.

Would a standard AV package do (like the one used on a desktop)?

Let me know what you are using.

Thanks.

You should make sure that it does work properly on a server Environment. We use TrendMicro on ours and it has not caused us any problems

colr: I haven't tried this myself on a web server, but I have on intranet servers and it works very well.

Have you looked up Symantec Anti-Virus, Corporate Edition yet? It's easy to configure and it blocks about 98% of stuff from getting in.

Symantec's Gateway Solution may be what you're after as well, although I haven't tried it.

Buuuuuuuuut...ultimately, would it not make more sense for your clients to have their own AV solutions? After all, this will only protect your web server, and if they download emails and visit other websites not hosted on your server, they're subject to all sorts of other nasties that you can't control.
