I need to implement a shopping cart solution soon and I need help. My shopping cart experience is extremely limited but once I get my hands on something I can usually learn it without too much difficulty, I just need some help up front to get going in the right direction.
I've used MySQL and PHP before (for message boards and chat on a band's website) but both were pre-installed on my host's server. Now I'm on a dedicated Windows/IIS server and it has nothing installed. I've read elsewhere where people made applications using MySQL and PHP work on IIS, so I think I can do this...? I would prefer to use a shopping cart software with templates, and that can integrate with PayPal. I am also looking at templates on ecommercetemplates.com because if I am understanding correctly, I won't need a database program installed - if anyone is familiar with these templates I would appreciate any input! Any other help/suggestions greatly appreciated. |

Hi Katt,
might want to check out ZenCart I use this cart and like it. Its PHP/MySQL based, integrates with paypal and the community/support is great. HTH, vark

Thanks vark I'll check it out.
These other templates I'm looking at use either PHP/MySQL or ASP/Access and I'm considering the latter so I won't have to worry with getting MySQL to work. But then I've heard that Access clogs up and causes problems if you have more than a few users accessing it. Does anyone have experience using Access this way? |

In the past I've only used access with a very limited # of users hitting it, less then 3 at a time. Personally I wouldn't consider using access for a shopping cart application but, there might be some that disagree.

Hi there,
Notice that you are running on a MS Hosting. As you know that MySQL and PHP provide lot of support through open source and flexibility. The ownership of everything to come are going to be high. Why not look at my company's turnkey e-commerce solutions that starts from $599. Which make sense and save all your extra time and cost to get it started. Flexibility on shopping cart and also merchant accounts. http://www.bytestopia.com/ Currently I am working on: Blessed Electrical Australia Please let me know if you need any help. |
