Default offering customers via email

whenever customers places orders with me, they also submit their email add along with the payment and info. what i plan this xmas season is to backend offer all my customers on a special deal on what i sell, like a special discount or something.

however, on my cehckout page, i do not have that option that customers check whether or not they want to receive offers etc.

my question is that is it okay to send them an email offering them the deal. if it is NOT okay, i will still consider taking the risk of maybe getting into spam folder or something like that for exchange of a couple sales. i am assuming to have around 2,500 customers by december 16, where i will email them.

what do u guys think about this?

chris

If you send them your own email receipt anfter they purchase, then you could add your special offers in the email receipt. They're already planning on getting it so it wouldn't be considered spam. Otherwise I would suggest adding a checkbox somewhere in your checkout form.

Hello chizcwish,

jestep is probably right suggesting that you could now add the checkbox to make your buyers optin to receive news about discounts and so, anyway I think you could be allowed to send thema special offer anyway. You are not a spammer as you have already established a business relation with them.

I think it would be okay to send out the email.
Just make sure it is clear in the email, who you are and that they can unsubscribe

yea, i just put that checkmark on my site.

i am just thinking that if i send out 2,000 emails on one day for the offer, just one click on an unsatisfied cusomter and my email add would now go to the spam folder of everyone./ even if i put the unsubscribe button in the email, if just one person clicks on "mark as spam", the email offer isalmost dead. is there any way to prevent this?
