That's where I'm going, so I'm told...

There's loads of software for php 5/mysql 4.1. - what do you want to do? If you're new to this, I suggest getting a site with fantastico installed, which enables you to auto-install a wide variety of php software. Such sites can cost less than $5/mth.

An easy way to 'get money into a bank account' is with PayPal. Easy to set up, no upfront charges and they process the credit cards etc for you.

First, you will need a mastercard/visa or other merchant account. This requires a commercial bank account. There are a number of these available on the web. You might have trouble locating one that will accept payments online however. Ask your current bank and see if they accept online payments via credit card.

Next you will need a 'payment gateway'. This connects your website to a secure clearing processor, not connected to your site. Your clients will then be transferred to this secure server to enter their payment information. After they have made the payment, they are transferred back to your site where you say 'Thank You'.

The gateway will process the transaction through your merchant account and the money will be deposited automatically.

Hope that helps

Regards,

Will

Default E-Commerce

I've been using http://www.oscommerce.com for all my ecommerce sites (PHP/Mysql). It's open source, so it's free and has a great community for support and site addons.

Here are a couple of examples of sites I've done with OsCommerce:
http://www.skyboxgames.com
http://www.unitedonesource.com
http://www.techdatasys.com

For payment systems, check out http://Ikobo.com. I'm not sure, but they may work with your currency.
