Default Help / Advice on E-Commerce Site

Hi,

I operate an e-commerce web site at

http://www.tools4flooring.com

Currently, im using a 3rd party javascript cart and PayPal to process payments. Id like to use a more advanced cart with worldwide shipping calculations and different shipping costs for different items. However, id like to use a cart that will integrate into my existing web site.

Any advice would be very greatly appreciated!

Default Shopping carts

Since you're a sort of a competitor, I'll have to say keep doing it the same way.

Now that I've given you some poor advice, I'll give you my real answer.

Without knowing a bit about how your site is programmed, it is tough to say what type of shopping cart will work with your site. Do you generate it from a database? If so, you'll want something that can read that database, or be able to export it to a format it can read. If you're coding it with a wysiwyg or hand coding it, most any cart should work, but some will take more work to set up. If you want the cart to also generate product pages and the like, then we're talking about a very different product.

If you can give us a bit of insight as to your expectations and how your site is currently created, that should help us help you.

Brian.

Default Shopping carts

If your site is hosted on Linux/Unix, take a look at OSCommerce or Zen Cart. They are both free, open source, and work well. I know of dozens of happy users of these carts.

With Windows, nothing is free, but ASPDOTNETStorefront has more bells and whistles than I have ever seen, after 5 years of doing these. It's not quite free, but you can OWN it (no payments, royalties, or comissions) for around 200 bucks.

I agree with advancedmerchant and to reinforce the point, if you want a free solutions then OSCommerce is worth looking at (which is why I put a working demo).
