Default How to take advantag of USPS

Hi everyone,

How can I take advantage of the low shipping rates USPS offers for international delivery, if my supplier in the US doesn't offer USPS shipping option? I use my supplier for drop-shipping, but they only offer FedEx Economy rate, which is still too expensive compared to USPS.

I was thinking of opening a PO Box from Mail Box Etc. (MBE) near my supplier's location, and have my supplier ship to MBE. And then have MBE forward the parcel using USPS to my customer worldwide. However, how can I know MBE would do it correctly in repacking/removing my suppliers labels on the parcel before shipping to my customer.

Any suggestions?

I can't use 3rd party logistic (3PL), since my shipping volume is still under 20 parcel a month. Cost wouldn't justify the use of it yet.

Thanks

How big are your packages?
With small packages, you got a problem.
With large packages where the cost difference is significant, you may want to offer your customers an option.
We send a lot of baseball caps to International customers. We tell them the cost for UPS, and compare it to Postal Service. If they want to save the money, we let them know 2 things -- 1)we will have it shipped to our office and then reship to them (a little extra, but not much).
2) Once past the US borders, we can't track it or be responsible for lost or stolen packages like you can with UPS.
Some customers are willing to take the extra few days and liability to save the money, but many of them now are able to understand why the difference in cost and that justifies it in their minds.

It ends up as a Kudo for you because you have given them control of the choice and shows your willingness to work with them (and hey, it ain't your fault anymore --it's that big, bad UPS company)
That has really worked well for us in keeping loyal customers.

Hi Garris,

Thanks for the suggestion!

My average packages is 5-10 lbs, but most of the time I get hit with volume weight/dimensional weight of 8-15lbs.

I do give options to my customer, and actually did the same thing you did by telling them they can't track once it leaves the US borders.
