Default I Need a Membership Site Solution

Hi everyone! I am looking for a good membership site solution.

This quote is from a nother recent thread "basic ecommerce questions". I thought it would play better in it's own topic...

I've been playing with the idea of creating a member site for sometime, but from what I've found after some research, it's seems a little pricey and complicated to get started...

Our new member Micky seems to have recommended a good member management site, from what I can tell.

Any comments? Is this to good to be true? Are there any drawbacks? Does anyone have a better solution with a similar cost?

I'm sure I could upgrade to a better system as my membership grows, but I don't want my overhead to outway income for the next year... I want a cheap solution to start out.

Another worry of mine: Long term risk. If this site dissappears, I'm sure it would be a little troublesome to flip the whole service to a new site... costly if I had a decent membership.

Thanks for any help and comments!

It looks interesting but personally I would prefer using a system on my website.

True - if you used PHP / ASP you would need to find a host that suports it, but usually that is easy enough.

And I would assume that their data is stored on their site somewhere. Not too sure if it is stored on your site. If it is not stored on your site or you do not have access to it, you might consider your own solution.

Authpro looks very basic to me. I agree it would better to host yor own and to go for more features.

Thanks Corey & Rondo,

I agree it would be better to have it on my own site. I'm a bit of a control freak when it comes to my website to begin with. That's why I design, build and maintain everything myself...

I wouldn't be able to sleep at night if I had the membership area off my site out of my control.

I'll look into your suggestions.

I appreciate your time and input!

Hi,

Are you accepting online payments for the membership access? If so, you processing gateway should provide full membership management as part of their services.

Let me know if you need any assistance.
