Default merchant provider

Hi,
I am looking for a merchant provider so I can accept credit card payments on my site. I am using paypal at the moment but am having so much trouble with them that I want to get another processor. I have a problem as I can't use a US one as I sell pharmaceuticals. I am classed as an 'adult' site which also is causing problems with getting a UK processor. (I'm based in the UK)
I have found this one, http://www.eCash4.net - Payment system, which is based in czechoslovakia :(
I looked at one of their 'customer' sites which seemed a bit strange as it had paypal on it!!
Does anyone know anything about this provider, or had dealings with them? do you think it is a scam site?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks kamagraman
PS I find your forum a great help, thanks

I've used 2checkout.com for several years now. Apart from two or three DDOS attacks perpetrated on them, they've been extremely reliable. I sell a how to play guitar book and video and memberships.

I believe the joining fee is still 50 bucks, and then you just add products to the database, which spits out html snippets which you paste into your page. Very simple. They send your money every two weeks.

2CO will not do high risk or pharmacies though. It is against their TOS.

There are lots of companies who provide merchant accounts, some of them have been mentioned here and there are others such as autorize.net, stormpay, ikobo and so on. I personally think ikobo's merchant account is worth taking a look at. If you're into coverage and low fees then it's a good choice, however the decision is yours. I'd suggest you run away from paypal as soon as you can, before they make you sell your should to them! :)

If you are selling pharmaceuticals or Adult, you might just as well forget it. The only way that you will get accepted is to pay a commission fee of 10% or higher and secondly, there are many credit card processing companies out there who no longer can allow this business model due to Visa/MasterCard compliance requirements. There are still a few out there who do accept this, but your account will be monitored. You might want to check out www.ibill.com. Their acquiring bank is offshore, so they don't have to deal with U.S. banking requirements.

There are no US banks that can take on this type of credit card processing. The only way you can do it is to go through an offshore processing bank. You would be looking at a 6 - 10% processing fee. If you do go through an offshore bank there is no limit to the amount of processing you can do, and you should have no problems as long as you avoid chargebacks.
