Default Reasonable Priced Hosting Please?

Wondering if you can suggest a reasonable priced hosting for my website?http://adorablevacuumcleanercovers.20m.com/

So far I've had nothing but problems with this site telling me my site doesn't even exist when I edit something and then log out. Am unable to even email technical support unless I upgrade. This is truly frustrating. I'd like to upgrade but having many problems.

Anyone have any suggestions, just recently placed paypal on my site as well.

Well, I commend you on making that decision.
It'll be well worth it.
There are lots of webhosts around. Just make sure you do your homework and take your time.
Send them emails as a test to see how long it takes for them to respond and how well, or poor their answers are. That will give you an idea of theri support level.

Tip: Once you do have a hosting account and domain, don't get rid of your current account just yet, you'll want to do a redirect.
To not only re-direct visitos, but also search engine bots

Depending on what you want, Sectorlink is usually a really good choice. I have a Win2K dedicated box with them and I've been a customer of theirs for over 2 years now. They're a really straight-up company to deal with, and they'll usually respond to your emails within the hour.

Some of the harder stuff (like server config issues and getting SQL Server databases set up) takes them longer, but that's to be expected.

They still hold the all-time record for fastest resolution I've ever seen to a trouble ticket: exactly 60 seconds. It must have been a slow day for them or something, but my problem was solved in exactly 1 minute.

Anyway, they're a great bunch of people to deal with, and I wouldn't say that about just any host.

There are loads of other good hosts out there as well. Check out these sites for recommendations:

http://www.noblehosts.com (I really like this one, and the owner, a man named Artashes, is a really decent guy).
http://www.hostchart.com
http://www.betterwebhosts.com (the layout on this one's kinda bad, but the content is what you're after here anyway).

No offense, ravenhawk, but wouldn't that make your recommendation somewhat biased to the point of being a spam recommendation? If that were posted on another board I'm a moderator on, I would have banned you on sight.

I fail to see how someone who is asking for a recommendation for a service and then recommending my own is spam.

added:
After thinking about this for a while, I realized that it really bothered me and I had trouble putting my finger on it.

The reason I finally realized is that I was accused of something I abhor. The person who started this thread had asked for a referral for a service and I noticed that there had been some referrals made.

In my opinion, I could not recommend a better service than my own. Now that may seemed biased but you had recommended a couple places in particular one recommendation that was glowing and personal this too is biased.

Now no ones recommendation is ever unbiased and mine was no different except for the one thing of it being my own service.

Spam (as you suggested I had done here) would have been placing an advertisement for my services where it was not asked for, this did not happen.

By your definition, anyone who recommends any service here would be spamming for there is no real way to know unless they say so if it is their own service or someone else’s and even if it is someone else’s it would still be spam. Therefore, it would not be possible to recommend anything since that would be spamming.

Okay, all issues aside, I personally use globat.com for my host. I have used them for about a year, and they have been awesome. I have called them a few times when I have made a blunder and they fix it up right away, and I have used their live chat support a few times and the response is always quick and curteous. Plus it is cheap for what you get, my main reason for using them.

:) Tough choice

I have had my site online for almost 7 years
I used wr2000 that during that time went to afhosting

STAY AWAY from them the reason being I found they were a wholesaler of hosting

So I would suggest staying away from wholesalers
although you can't without seeing their operation be fully sure if they are or not

As I did my research for looking I kept into the fact that I knew my bandwidth would be high
My space requirements were high

I also considered the service, one I preferred
going with a smaller hosting trying to build up a business because the service was more honest

There will always be problems with hosting,
Things happen

While your looking for the right fit/hosting company
ask about Bandwidth,
do you have a lot of graphics?

Whats their limit before extra charges get added on
Most companies will have loads of extra's in their packages

Always unless your not looking to use a lot of PHP r cgi scripts or whatever, go with dedicated IP hosting
Virtual hosting, will so up alot in your URL as

http://yourdomain.theirdomain.???

As the others said there are tons of hosting options

and as a last statement, I'll plug mine
http://www.redcheckhosting.com

I have been really happy with Scott and he has good prices and many options

But even saying that
Check http://hostreview.com/ they are a directory
of hosting companies, should help you as you do your homework

And as Cyanide said - I very much agree
Do the homework, think what you need now and what you may want later, and most certainly
leave the old site as you switch over

Steve

Default Dedicated IP Hosting

I'm looking for some good references myself. We need to have a dedicated IP, the ability to run Perl 5, PHP with MySQL database and most important of all, excellent support. I don't really want to take a stab in the dark at a company we never heard of before. We have several sites and need to start moving them onto different servers.

Any recommendations?

Thanks,

Evie
