Crispyweb.com's Domain valuation and appraisal

Hello,
Can anyone tell what would be the price of my domain if I auction it. Do you think the name i.e. crispyweb is cool. I personally think it could be used for an entertainment portal. I tried different domain valuation online site like: leapfish.com, it says 1100$ as cost, nameboy predicts 12500$. What do you think can it auction like big business.com or any other domain which got 1million dollar or lacs of $s during bidding. Please tell your opinion.

Before you read any further, please consider that the information and opinions presented are meant to provide you with an honest "face value" evaluation.

Although you're only asking about the domain value, the site behind it is what makes the domain worth anything, so I'll focus on the package as a whole.

Now, down to brass tacks.

It's a cute name and kind of catchy but, it's not exactly keyword rich, nor is it an intuitive phrase that people are likely to look for.

According to Altavista, you've got 183 inbound links. Yahoo! says you've got 193 and, according to Google, your pagerank is a mere 2 with just one IBL. Quite simply, there's a lot of work left to do and it would require a considerable amount of time, marketing effort and expense to make it popular.

A search of your targeted keyword phrase "multi-search" on both Google and MSN reveal that the site places within the top 10 or 20 results. That's not horrible, but do people use the search phrase?

As for the remainder of the directory?

It relies on DMOZ directory listings, so it's evident that the monetary expenditures and time required to build the "Crispyweb" directory are relatively low.

Since it's really not that current and because of an inability to add or delete directory listings, paid or free, the only other way to generate revenue with the site would be through advertising. That being said, it's apparent that the site has not attracted any significant sponsors.

At best, the site might serve as a framework for a working directory without any established means of generating sustainable revenue.

Realistically, anyone can find and download the DMOZ directory scripts and the search scripts that make the whole thing work. The biggest investments thus far relate to getting the domain name registered, the elbow grease required to get the site running and basic hosting expenses.

As a 17 month old domain and, given that the name itself won't likely be typed into an addressbar, nor is it likely to be searched for at random, I'd estimate the actual value of the domain itself between $500 - $700.00 US.

I'd anticipate that you'd find it rather difficult to find a purchaser who isn't looking for an aged domain with the sole intent of setting up a spam directory, and who might be interested in anything more than the domain name.

If it were my decision, I'd stop the bleed and take the first reasonable offer that came down the pipe. I'd consider myself lucky, were I to see an offer of $500.00.

In all honesty, you're not going to see millions and I seriously doubt you'll recoup your investment.
