Default How can I sell a domain name but keep it safe?

Hi - little dilemma here.

Quite a few years back I bought the domain name http://www.animalfun.co.uk/ for my 11 year old daughter, who created a really sweet site about animals - written by a kid for other kids. (I know I know, there's lots wrong with it, but hey, its a kids site with spelling mistakes, the lot!). Understandably and due to its "interesting" name, the site has generated thousands of hits! (I'm sure there were quite a few disappointed people who quickly hit the back key when they realised it wasn't delivering quite what they had hoped!)

Anyhow, now she's 16 and has lost interest in the site. I am continuing keeping the domain going becuase I am concerned about it getting into the wrong hands. Looking at the stats, I can see it linked to from all over the web ~ from kids directories, schools, animal enthusiast sites.....

I would hate to release it back on the market or put it up for sale and find some unsavoury content had replaced what's currently there. After all, we are supposed to protect children from this sort of thing.

The only other thing I can think of is that I continue to pay for the domain, but leave the pages just as they are or just remove the content totally - but I can see it taking years to scroll off the web.

Am I left holding the "baby dinosaur"??

You can always sell the site with contingencies.. Have a lawyer draw up a contract stating acceptable uses for the site upon sale for a certain amount of time..

But, realistically, usually when you sell something it is no longer under your control..

I would park it with one of the parking houses and when renewal time comes along, pay for it using the PPC earnings.

Cool retro 90s site.

If you like forward it to me with the files, or point it at my shared hosting, and ftp the files yourself. You can keep the registration, or forward it to me and ill pay the 10$ a year and host it.

Ill leave FTp access for you at anytime too, Id just put adlink at the bottom of pages, to pay for it for me, and maybe a banner to my Amazon baby Store.

Also happy to forward the coolkitty Email address or let you keep any email addy on the domain you want.

If you ever want it back, or find a use for it better than leaving it as is, Id forward it back.

I figure I can make more than the $10 a year in ad clicks, so why not. PM me if you want, I have no long term interest in holding the domain, but this way you dont pay for it.

Let me know.

It's a very nice site.

My 12 year old daughter Katharina would probably be very happy to continue it.

What price do you have in mind?
