I have a customer who wants a particular domain name that is owned by someone in Malaysia.

How would one go about buying the domain name in a secure manner without getting ripped off?

I have never bought a domain name before.

Hi Jeff, I'm going to move this to the Domain discussion forum; you're likely to get more responses there.

My question is, have you or your client contacted the domain owner yet? I don't know much about the domain trade, but I'd look into finding a reputable escrow service to handle the money if you are concerned about getting scammed. Research the escrow service, don't take the recommendation of the domain seller.
