Default Becoming my own registrar

I am writting on behalf of one of my friends who owes a media company, which deals with over 200 sites ! In order to maximise their activity they are looking to become a registrar.

They are looking to sell .com (ICANN), .eu (EURID) and some other domains. What are the procedures that they need to go thru, how will the DNS Server Work ? What is Protocol EPP ?

Thanks for your help !

Sam

Hello,
All I know about being an acredited registrar is that it a very hard process and needs a lot of money.
I heared from a domain names guru that this process requires more than $500,000. Maybe you can visit the ICANN site for more details.
But you can do something better just by being a domain reseller. This is very easy and affordable. Enom offers such service for a low free and wild west domains offer a better service with a lot of options for about $99.
Regards

Default Check this out:

There are many processes that have to be developed, people hired and trained, etc., to be a viable registrar. A big chunk of the $$ will go towards satisfying the regulatory end, alone. Try reselling to get your feet wet. This link to GoDaddy and their reseller program (WildWest) compares 3 of the bigger reseller programs (from their perspective, of course):

I have an associate that did the TUCOWS program for a while, rather successfully, but that was early into it.

Good Luck!!

After dealing with resellers (of tucows) that go out of business, I think this is a good idea. Once you own a dozen domains you should think about taking charge of your own accounts.

I tried WildWest but their signup process is such a pain with all the cross selling that we abandoned them.
