Default Registrar disapeared ... What can be done ?

Hi guys,
I am currently experiencing some problems concerning my domain name and I am turning to you for some advice...

I have won an auction on SnapNames (Backorder service) for a domain name: econseils.com. This domain has been registered with a Russian registrar named Nicco LTD (www.nicco.com). I have received a log in and password a week after the auction so that i can manage my domain (Change DNS and Whois info).

The problem is that after changing the DNS and Whois Info, no modifications have been updated after nearly 2 weeks. The registrar in the meantime is pointing my domain to a PPC page and earning a revenue from my traffic...

I have tried to contact the registrar by email but I have not had a response. It seems also that the phone number listed for the registrar is a mobile phone number which has been disconnected...

So to sum up, I owe a domain and have a no control for it, and I cannot contact the registrar,

If you have any ideas of what i can do please do let me know,

Thanks,

Sam

That's a tough spot to be in, Sam.

You can send in a complaint to internic at:
http://reports.internic.net/cgi/regi...lem-report.cgi

Don't know if it would help but it's worth a shot.

Good luck. And let us know how it works out.

Here's some other info I found about Nicco from Alexa & whois, in case you don't have it yet

If you've got the login/pw for the domain, isn't there any unlock feature available for it?

Unfortunately not :-( I have filed a report to ICANN however from I understand they are unable to do deal with individual requests. Verisign say that I need to file a complaint to ICANN and they can't do anything... I have contacted a law firm that deals with domain issues who tells me that doing a lawsuit in Russia is nearly impossible and even if it was possible it would take a year...

So it seems as thu I have lost my domain and there is no way of gaining it back... Quite scary when you think about it ...

Any other advice greatly appreciated !

I kept on calling the ICANN and in the end they decided to help me so pushed the new dns details into the registry whilst waiting for a transfer !
