How long before expired domain available

I found a domain I wanted to buy that expired 2/5/05. I've tried to get the domain though standard registrar websites and it says that it is not available. Do I have to backorder it? How long does it take for the registrar to release it? The technical contact is Network Solutions so I'm guessing that's where it was bought from.

If I am not mistaken it takes approx 77 days from the time it expires to the time you are able to buy it. Best wishes and much success in acquiring it.

Would a backorder speed it up or be necessary?

backorder wont speed it up
it goes through the normal domain deletion cycle

30 days of redemption
6 days more it will delete

try to backorder with the registrar's partner
nsi - snapnames
bulkregister - snapnames
directi - snapnames
dotster - namewinner
