Default Website PR 7 selling for $10,000?????

I was nosing around another forum where they had websites for sale. They had websites with a PR of 7 selling for over $10,000. I also read that folks will pay $100-$150/month for a text ad on a website with a PR of 7. Is this true? Boy, I gotta work on my website!!!

I can confirm you that there are services selling
text links on high PR sites for those prices.

It happened me to visit a couple of them, and the
PR7 and PR8 links cost more than $100 a month.

I don't know anyway if they have a lot of customers,
but if you find 10 or 20 of them, in a year you can
pay back the $10'000 price you saw for a website
with PR7.

Quite important is to consider that in that case is
more important how the website has been developped
to fix such a price, and not the domain name itself.

Yes, but this is highly risky in my opinion. Webmasters are beginning to see how insignificant PageRank is becoming, and Google at any time could pull the plug.

I personally am not crazy for PR.

Anyway I see so many are.

Many webmasters consider PR crucial for their
link exchanges strategies.

I will not pay money for a link only for its PR
and know the majority of webmasters either will.

Selling high PR links is in my opinion a small
niche.

One mans junk is another mans treasure. some may not like the page rank but some do - and if there is a buyer out there - a seller is born :-)
i would not spend money on getting a link from a pr7 site. but i do see people selling links from similar sites - but i would not put money in to make a website to get that high a ranking just to sell links to others. if you devote that much time to a business of your own you will do a lot better then the 10 grand.

Page Rank is only one factor in the SEO process with Google. I have seen good links pay off for my customers and I have seen purchased links do very little.

I agree with a previous poster...that relying on PR to determine what you pay for a link is risky when it is very easy for Google to pull the plug.

Additionally, other factors can be far more important like unique visitors, page views, etc.
