Ok all, Im backordering a domain name, today I took a look at its whois:
Status: REDEMPTIONPERIOD Updated Date: 28-may-2004 Creation Date: 14-oct-1999 Expiration Date: 14-oct-2004 Now if its in redemption period, why does it expire in oct? I now registars add a year to the expiration when the domain is in HOLD but this is really weird. |

It could have something to do with the fact that when a domain expires ... even if you make no attempt to renew it, it is held for 3 months before anyone else can renew it.
Or I could be completely wrong :P |

Hi all,
I have also seen some WHOIS records that say they expired over 6 months ago yet still say they are registrar locked or in redemption period. I guess no system is perfect and sometimes there are glitches.
