Default Domain APPRAISAL Rules - Read Before Posting

Hi All,

Due to popular demand, we have opened this new forum for all domain appraisals. To help keep this forum organized and usefull for all, we're posting a few simple rules we ask everyone to follow. For a complete list of the WebProWorld Forum Rules, click here. Please note that the WebProWorld forum moderators have the right to edit or delete any posts not in compliance with the forum rules!

POST APPRAISAL REQUESTS IN THIS FORUM BY STARTING A NEW TOPIC.
IF YOU POST TO THE MAIN "DOMAIN GAME" FORUM - THEY WILL BE MOVED HERE ANYWAY.

Rules for Listing Appraisal Requests:

1) SUBJECT LINES - List 1-3 Domain Names in the subject of your post. We cannot emphasize this enough!! You don't need to say "please appraise" or "what do you think" since that's what this forum is for. If you fail to follow this rule, the moderators will edit your subject line.

2) Max 3 domains only time for each appraisal request. One appraisal request per week.

3) No sales pitches, appraisal requests only.

4) No porn, adult content, or explicit site material. If it's not acceptable for people under the age of 18, then don't post it. Any offensive posts will be deleted.

5) NO SPAM. The purpose of this forum is to get feedback about your domain from experts and peers - NOT to spam our forum with shameless self-promotion. Any posts that advertise excessively will be deleted.

Rules for Offering Appraisal Feedback:

1) Opinions are fine if you don't know the value of the domains, but please be sensitive and positive.
If you don't have anything good to say or can't offer any suggestions please refrain from commenting.

2) Contribute! Please try to post an idea for selling the name or a positive comment even if you don't know the value of a domain. If you REQUEST an appraisal try to give back to the community by posting feedback or giving an appraisal of other member's domain names.

Post Away and ENJOY ;-)

Yes, a separate section for domain appraisals is really recommended.

Thanks.

Domain names are domain names. They're really only worth something nowadays if they have content and traffic.

What do you plan on doing with them?

I obtained this site a few years back and presently building out the site, then I ran a link popularity report and found out it rated extremely high. Any idea what it is worth?

Default Domain development

I am developing a site for a close friend. The business will be located in the UK and provide an online shopping facility in the UK. We have 3 names registered thename.co.uk, the-name.co.uk, the-name.com. (thename being used instead of the actual name to illustrate the problem)
thename.com is owned by another company doing similar business but not identical in the USA and is registered until 2009.
Our dilemna is which of our 3 registered names to use? Some people have said hyphenated sites(the-business) are at a disadvantage for SEO optimization and not user friendly. However, if we use the thename.com it could be confused with the US company.
Please give us your ideas and suggestions.

Default seemly.com

FYI: I've found a terrific free PDF ebook titled "Business Domain Names: How to Select and Buy an Elite Domain Name." It was written by Steve Baba, Ph.D., an expert in the field of branding and domain names. You can find it at http://www.seemly.com

When you open the index page to seemly.com, the PDF ebook will automatically open too...just wait a few seconds. This way you won't have to look for the link that opens the book. I guess Mr. Baba wants to make sure people see his book! Some time back you could purchase the book at Amazon, but now it's free. This book covers everything you could ever want to know about domain names and creating a memorable brand name for your business.

Enjoy.

PLEASE START A NEW THREAD FOR APPRAISALS WITH THE DOMAIN NAME IN THE SUBJECT. Please see the 1st message in this thread.

I am going to lock this thread so people don't post their appraisals within this thread.

Kevin, please feel free to start a new post in appraisals with the subject being your domain name.

Maia - your question is more suited for the main "Domain Game" discussion forum. Please ask the question there and you will be able to get more feedback.

Thanks
