Default Find IP Address of host with dialup modem

Hi,
I have a program that normally connects to our servers over the internet and has to bypasses a firewall. We have just setup a modem that will allow someone to dial in to a server and we want the app to still run. Thing is the IP address is different since they are now bypassing the firewall.

I know what the IP of the machine is on our network, but it does not seem to work when I use that in the app. Is there a way to find out what the address of the host is for the connected machine? will it vary with every connection?

It may be this app is not designed to work in this way but I thought I would give it a shot. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance

Default Shot in the dark

Hi Gressner,
you got to be more specific with your description, if you really want anybody to help you. Such issues highly depend on the OS you are using, the application and the program. You got to name those with versions and patch levels.

If you want a solution try to target a forum, that deals with the specific OS that you are using. This forum is about Internet Marketing and Publishing, not Internet Protocol in general.

On the issue, a dial-in server should have a configuration of the IP address(es) used. The firewall should have nothing to do with IP addresses for your applications.

By the way, why would you have your dial-in connections bypass the firewall?

Well, as you seem to know little about what you are trying to do, I must recommend to get a consultant that does understand this kind of technology and the OS you are using. A mis-configured firewall is as good as no firewall or worth. your time might be better spend on your core business, which brings you revenue to pay the consultant. The side effect is you get a solution, that actually works.

Good luck
