I assume you're trying to load another OS from CD or DVD. It sounds like it's not booting from the CD/DVD, probably because the BIOS is set to boot from the hard disc first. You'll need to go into the BIOS and change the boot order so it boots from the CD/DVD first.

How you get into the BIOS varies from machine to machine. For most PCs you press the Delete key but on some it's F2 or F10. A messsage normally appears on the screen very early in the boot sequence that will say somehing like "Press DEL to enter Setup". That message will tell you what ket to press. Once there, look for a menu item called Boot Order or something similar. It's fairly easy on most PCs to change it so the CVD/DVD drive is first. Make a note of the current settings before changing them so you can put them back later.

Once you've made the change and saved it, the system will reboot and this time it should boot from your installer disc.

Don't forget, once you've sorted the problems out, to go back into the BIOS and change the boot order settings back to what you noted down earlier.
