Default Hijacked by active x

Hi folks,

I have determined that the only safe way to surf the net is to disable, or instruct to prompt me, when a site is trying to use active x with my IE browser.
The reason is because all these unscrupulous distributors are using active x to install their unwanted search functions, popups, and toolbars into the browsers of us unsuspecting users.
What this means is that these isolated .000001% of bad apples are spoiling the whole barrell for the rest of us. Sites that are legitimatly using active x controls are going to get locked out, because I fear the unethical ones.
Now, this dosen't bode well for the future of active x, and so it seems to me that active x has a vested interest in tracking down these scum, and suing. They have the resources to do this, while most of us do not.
Can't we all get organized somehow and form an appeal to active x for help on this matter? They have the most to lose in this deal.
Your thoughts and suggestions please.

Best regards,

Default

I have surfed with active x set to prompt if signed and disabled if unsigned for years and don't have a major problem

Default ActiveX filtering

There is an alternative solution.
Unfortunately, some sites use ActiveX for their functionality (not only for hurting you)
I have been using s-Wall (http://sphinx-soft.com/firewall ).It includes the variety of customizable content filters (ActiveX filter too)
With this product, you can gently substitute ActiveX with the safe content.
Content rules are very flexible. They can be configured to pass ActiveX only from trusted sited
