Default Need Help with FTP

I have been struggling with a few ftp accounts I have created.

Firstly I get an error when I feed in the password in Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.12 ----- 530 login authentication failed
Second I get an error in IE which say cannot display web page and only after several attempts it connects.
(I know I do not have an internet speed or connection problem)

This ftp acc. is for some clients and they are not very tech savvy...

Ideally I would like them to just click the link and upload/download the data through IE (Is it possible to upload through this method or will they need an FTP client)
Also maybe all of them don't work on windows or don't have windows XP so the windows explorer option is out.

Is this a problem faced generally.....

From what I've been able to find out, it appears this is most commonly due to a problem with the server itself.

Check with your host to see if there's a problem.

In addition, if you're creating subaccounts, your clients might have to log in under a different FTP address.

For example, being the Admin, you'd likely need to log in to "ftp://ftp.yourdomain.com" but a user with a subaccount might be required to log in to "ftp://ftp.yourdomain.com/~username"

Check with the hosting provider as well. They may have an FAQ or instructions you can use to set this up properly.

Good Luck.

Download a free/trial ftp client and try connecting with passive mode.
