I was wondering is there a professional exam for C Programming where I can get a certificate that this is recognized.

Thanks.

C? Presumably you mean C++ or C#. Don't think anyone uses plain old C any more.

Microsoft have certification for these languages that tends to be recognised internationally. Depending on what country you're in there may be national certification programmes too.

C programming may still be used for at lest two reasons:
  1. Speed, there are overhead in C++ and C#.
  2. Plain procedural number crunching.
C++, C#, Java, Perl, PHP are languages with C syntax.

You can learn some of these languages at the Norwegian site W3Schools Online Web Tutorials with a general W3Schools' Certifications

Thanks for the replies. I do mean C, not C++ unfortunately. As kgun said there are reasons to study C but it's not the studying part I am interested in it's the certification. I can't see anywhere to get such a cert though. Even the W3Schools posted above. Probably because it becoming less and less popular.

If anyone can find a certification it would be appreciated.

Thanks.

  1. Do you have the "C programming language" by Kernighan and Ritchie?
  2. Do you have Numerical Recipes in C? (Not in C++).
  3. I can certifice you. I think I have a much more solid background (lower left corner) than the people at W3 Schools.com.
  4. But it will not be free. Sorry, but timecosts are also costs. It can be combined with you doing a project for a company, writing an undergraduate, graduate, master or a PHD thesis.

Thanks for the offer kgun but I was looking for an internationally recognised certification rather than someones guarantee which is what I think you are offering. It's not that I am looking for a job and want to study C Programming. I have a job and my boss would just like me to have a certification so it looks good on his resume rather than mine. Not to worry though, I guess I will have to put my head down and get C++ qualification (assuming there is one).

C++. That should be no problem, at least in Norway.
